This week I have barely blogged. (For Me, that is haha) Typically I blog once a day, but this week I have blogged….twice? Once was a half-assed thrown together post (yesterday) that I wrote in the middle of feeling like CRUD. Other than 2 twitter chats I made sure to hang out on my iphone with – I’ve barely been on twitter. (Which also means I’ve been missing out on my favorite blogs, but I’ll catch up today on the drive to and from Sprinfield, VA!
)
I unplugged so to speak. It wasn’t really intentional, sort of just happened and then once I realized it I went with it.
I have something to admit:
IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!
It really was awesome to just go about my day and not check up on anything. Instead of tweeting and reading blogs – I have read a book and a half (I started and finished the Hunger Games. Thanks again Jen and Josephine.!) They sent me a teaser e copy to check out. At that point I couldn’t put it off any longer. I had avoided reading the books, only because there was SO MUCH HYPE I was certain it would be a huge let down, like Twilight. I was wrong. I read the first chapter and was hooked. Went out the next day and bought the book. I finished it yesterday. (less than a week later).
We sort of live in a society (especially as bloggers) where we feel like if we miss what’s going on, in the online/social media world – we’ll be lost and out of touch forever.
Truth is, you’re missing someone talk about their day, their workouts, probably some pretty hilarious chit chat – but it will all still be there tomorrow, next week. Unplugging isn’t as scary as it sounds! It’s also INSANELY HEALTHY. I feel so refreshed after a few days of minimum communication online. I feel like after not serving you all slop, I’ll now have more interesting and fun posts to write!
What’s REALLY freaky – is that while writing this I looked up pictures (such as the one I found on pinterest, above) and realized tomorrow is National Unplugging Day. I HAD NO IDEA! That is kind of freaky hahaa.
Unplugging is healthy. Go outside, enjoy this gorgeous spring we are all having! Read a book, dance in the flowers, hike a local trail. Turn your phone off and log out of twitter…. Life will go on as regularly scheduled as soon as you want, but for now – enjoy a bit of freedom
Now, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! We are off to Springfield, VA for one of Zack’s shows (kick off of their April tour!! eee!! ) and potentially home, because my sister is having signs of LABOR!!!!!!!
(she better have the little bugger before I go back to work on Monday! or wait until my next day off! ;P )
I promise to return to my regularly scheduled blogging next week!

I had no idea tomorrow was unplugging day! I spent all day doing my Friday video and blog, so I could go hiking with my husband tomorrow and take pictures! I guess I just felt the Universe telling me it was time
OOPS
I shall unplug this weekend and catch up
I had no idea either! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your day…unplugged
whoa! so weird that we were just talking about this yesterday on twitter! happy unplugging
unplugging is really great. i did it quite a few times in grad school, and it felt sooo liberating. happy national unplugging day!
I guess I’m leaving this comment when I’m supposed to be unplugged. Oh well. I’ve spent a lot less time online lately and it’s refreshing. It’s just like going for a run without a watch — we all need it from time to time.
Haha, I’m back and at it on National Unplugging Day. Kind of hilarious, I say.
You’re pretty up on the fact that I’ve been unplugged (loved all the love on my vacation pics, friend!). After the incident with the dog and having a house full of company for almost a week, I needed the vacation we took. It was amazing to just throw some photos up whenever the time was right and not worry about having to come up with a post or a tweet. I’ve been lacking creativity for a while now…and I feel it creeping back in as I get back into the swing of my healthy life.
I feel refreshed. I cleaned out my reader for the past two weeks, and I started fresh. I’m not forcing myself to go back and read every post by every one of my favorite bloggers, because honestly…I know y’all will link me to the good ones in future posts.
Unplugging is NECESSARY.
