My home boy over at PavementRunner.com has been doing Playlist Thursday posts every week. I’ve been meaning to get in on the action, but between Napa, life, etc I just haven’t had the chance. Today I am introducing Playlist Thursdays here at Wild Things RUN Free!

This week – COVER ME. Cover songs or songs sampling other songs!!
Something Old: “Tainted Love” by Marilyn Manson. Originally the song was written by Ed Cobb of The Four Preps. In 1965 Gloria Jones recorded it for the first time. Then recorded and popularized by the group “Soft Cell”. In 2001 Marilyn Manson darkened it up and released his version, hitting top single charts in the US and UK!

Something Current: “Lithium” by Joseph Gordon-Levitt… Yea, my future husband Joseph Gordon-Levvit covered the Nirvana hit at his live performance last summer in Seattle (um, why wasn’t I there?! Shouldn’t future wifey be informed of these events?! sheesh!) As if I wasn’t already in love with him… Now you show me that he can play the heck out of a guitar and sing to me? SWOOOOOOOOON

Something to Consider: “Lights” By Bassnectar & Ellie Goulding – Not exactly a cover — but a song by Bassnectar Sampling the gorgeous Ellie Goudling’s hit “Lights”… An incredible song (the remix) I’m not even going to lie. I really only like Ellie Goulding when she’s remixed into a dubstep song. This song PUMPS UP my workouts. I love putting this song on repeat during a speed session, no joke.

You totally put MM on there. NICE. Great list… I almost added LIGHTS on previous ones as well. JGL does concerts? I’ve heard him sing and dance… but that’s cool. And an EXCELLENT choice.

i LOVE the MM version of tainted love, it’s creepy but awesome. Anything with JGL is OKAY by me… such a little cutie, I’m sure you’ve seen 500 days of summer? Ugh love.
I love that movie. My fav of his is 50/50 though. I laughed. I got angry. I cried. I felt bipolar the whole movie

Love the MM version of Tainted Love! One of the only covers I like better than the original is Shinedown’s version of Simple Man!

OMG love Joseph Gordon-Levvit and haven’t heard him sing aside from with Zoey Deschanel. I kind of love him doing Lithium. And MM doing Tainted Love? Love. Great pics!
