Playlist Thursday: Spooky Halloween Delights!

It’s that time of week already, folks! Yep. Thursday! Seriously… Each week I am more freaked out at just how fast time goes by.. Terrifying, honestly! Which, if you’ve been around Wild Things RUN Free before, you know that means it’s PLAYLIST THURSDAY!

New to Playlist Thursdays? Here’s how it works… Every week, our good friend Pavey over at Pavement Runner comes up with a theme. Then, all of us good little bloggers pick three songs we love that fit the theme. Something Old (5+ years old) Something Current (Within the last year) and Something to Consider (This can be anything. Think of it as a wild card!)

This week’s theme, since Halloween is only SIX days away (Seriously.. Where does the time go, y’all!?!?!) The theme, obviously is HALLOWEEN! Songs that either are about Halloween, Reminds us of Halloween, or are just plain creepy.!

So lets get this show on the road! ;)

SOMETHING OLD:

Artist: White Zombie

Title: Electric Head Pt 1

Side Note: I immediately thought of Thriller, but I figured everybody would choose that (fun fact I totally know the thriller dance. I have it on video, I promise to upload it sometime!!) So anyway, when I was a weee little Wild Thing.. Okay not that wee.. Like junior in high school. I had just gotten involved in the local music scene (Which at this point if you follow me at all, you know has become a huge part of my life).. I became friends with my first local band, Aniasin. I took a weekend trip to Buffalo with the awesome, crazy, knows how to have a better time than anyone else I’ve ever met in my entire life group (while still keeping it 100% legal) and we ended up leaving in the middle of the night after an INCREDIBLE show. Clearly, the show had to go on right? So I’m exhausted and let the lead guitar player, My dear friend Tom, drive my car the way back so I could just relax and hopefully catch up on Zzzz’s (that part never happened) What did happen though? We enjoyed this song realllllly loudly. The two band members were banging there hands on the roof of my car so hard that they broke the dome light in my car. I was a little irritated, of course, but I mean… It was all in good fun. Stuff like this happens, and thankfully Tom being the gentleman he was, paid to repair it! This song isn’t necessarily the best pick for Halloween, but who can deny Rob Zombie‘s pure creepiness? He is one crazy, creepy dude. haha

Quotable: We all go down for the sacrificial moment

SOMETHING CURRENT:

Artist: Queens of the Stone Age

Title: Burn The Witch

Side Note: Okay, soooo 6 years isn’t actually current.. But there aren’t many current songs I feel are very “halloweeny” and I love QOTSA! There is no denying this video & song fit for Halloween :)

Quotable: Ask yourself… Will i burn in Hell? Then write it down & cast it in the wel. There they are, he mob it cries for blood

SOMETHING TO CONSIDER:

Artist: Figure

Title: This is Halloween Dubstep Remix

Side Note: The Nightmare Before Christmas will forever be one of my favorite Disney movies of all time. Such a great movie. In fact, I think after I’m done with this post I’m going to pop it in! Ahhh, yes yes I am. Anyway, A twist on the theme song, Figure, the dark, twisted prince of Dark-Dubstep (as I call it) remixed it with song siiiick drops. Last year he released a song every week for the 2 months leading up to Halloween. All with a Halloween theme, of course! Sure, it’s not the original. Sure, it’s hard to mess with a classic and make it good. But I really love the heavy drops. REALLY helps me kick my pace up a notch on a run! (one thing that bugs me with EDM is that they rarely make music Videos. Come on guys, GET ON TOP OF THAT.)

Quotable: This is Halloween, everybody make a scene. Trick or Treat til the neighbors die of fright! It’s our town, everybody scream in this town of HALLOWEEN.

What songs remind YOU of Halloween? Be creative. We all know that Thriller & The Monster Mash remind us of this great holiday… But what else?!

  1. Awesome playlist – I love that you went to the next level and searched out some Halloween songs that aren’t Thriller or Monster Mash!
Love love love QOTS – why didn’t I think of that?!
