Growing up, I was certainly active… But I wouldn’t say I was ever really a runner. I was a serious competitive gymnast, so I did my share of sprint drills nearly EVERY. DAY…. When track & field came around in middle school, it came in handy to be able to sprint. I did the 100 meter dash, 75 hurtle, and 400 relay…. SHORT. and. FAST. But, this never stuck, when high school came, I never joined the team.
Needless to say, anything much over a mile was a daunting idea to me. Not to mention that by the time I started running, I had lost ALL endurance I ever possessed as a child – teen. It took me time be able to run a mile without stopping. Once I did though, I didn’t stop! I was running 1-2 miles 3-4 times a week and feeling great. Then, my roommate at the time in Florida convinced me to run a 5k with him. GULP. I was terrified, but I did it – and I didn’t die!!! The rest is now history. I ran my first Half-Marathon on April 29, 2012 and will be running my first FULL Marathon in Spring of 2013!

You have the right idea about running – it is great to get faster but is equally important to enjoy it and stick with it for the long haul. Good luck with your races.
Exactly!! Many years ahead of me to build speed
& THank you

I find myself ginrtiued by your life I started running when I was a toddler and in 6th grade they brought me up for JV Track and Crosscountry, then in 7th grade I was pulled up for varsity (for both track and CC) but I was not exactly legal to do that because I wasn’t in 8th grade but thats what they did so Now I started running marathons when I was 14 and I will be 17 next year. I have never had any injuries before what were they like??A Quote for you-There is no such thing as failure unless you quit trying your hardest. -CrystalPlease send me an e-mail if you get a chance. Thanks
I just started running two weeks ago and this really gives me hope that I WILL get better at it;)
