There are a LOT of races that I have my sights set on, but when I really think of it, there are CERTAIN races – that for one reason or another I have to run during my lifetime!
In no particular order:
- St. George Marathon - this was the marathon that made me decide I wanted to run a marathon in the first place. I don’t like the idea of leaving my first marathon up to chance (aka a lottery) so I opted against it being my first. But, one day I will make this mostly down hill marathon, my bitch
- Boulder Boulder 10k – Every memorial Day one of the biggest 10Ks in the country go off… With over 90 waves and live entertainment every step of the way. Add it to the fact that Boulder, CO is the most adorable little city in the universe
- Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon – I am obsessed with everything Disney. Disney movies, Disney theme parks, Disney resorts, Disney everything!
Living in Celebration for 2 years didn’t add to that or anything… HA. The Disney food & wine festival is my favorite time of year there! A festival perfectly fit for my culinary & disney passions. Would love to go back and attend again, only this time – also running! Warrior Dash- I Ran the Warrior Dash MD in May 2012.. Plan on doing it again every year! SO much fun. Read about it here- Maratona di Roma - Talk about history. I don’t think this one needs any explanation.
- BII Maybank Bali Marathon - Oh Bali, famed the Island of the Gods…Full of hills, rugged coast lines, gorgeous sandy beaches, and crystal clear water… It’s not only a top travel destination of mine for personal and spiritual reasons, but it’s also a top running destination!
- Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon - An adorable medal, a great course, and a well reputed marathon. What else does a runner want in her life?
- Disney Princess Half Marathon – We already went over how much I love Disney, so it’s obvious that a ton of women, and some men all dressed up like Disney princesses running throughout the theme parks and highways, would excite the daylights out of me.
- The Great Open Road Marathon – If you haven’t heard of this Marathon, I suggest you check it out! The elevation is a bit intimidating, but the fact that you’ll be running along the gorgeous blue ocean of Australia makes up for it (or at least in my opinion)
- Hood To Coast Relay - This 199 mile team relay event starts in Portland, and runs through some wicked awesome scenery all the way West, until you hit the coast!
- ING Miami Marathon & Half Marathon – Miami, another one of my favorite places in the US. Who needs an excuse to spend time in south beach? & what an excuse a race weekend is
- Big D Texas Marathon - As a former Texan I have to run this event! Starting at the Cotton Bowl, running through a city that I know like the back of my hand!
- Nike Women’s Marathon - One of my all time favorite brands, and one of my all time favorite cities combined to run one of my all time favorite sports…. ALRIGHTY THEN!
- NYC Half Marathon - Running through Central Park and Manhattan is my kind of dream come true. Big cities like NYC just take my breath away. I love them so much
- Marathon De Paris - Running along some of the most beautiful streets in the world, and finish shortly after passing the Eiffel Tower.
- Austin 3M Half Marathon & Relay - Austin, the Texas city that has always had my heart. Gorgeous, the soul of the music scene, artistic. This “mostly downhill” half marathon has been on my radar since I was choosing my first 13.1…
- Tough Mudder - Claiming to be the “toughest event on the planet” I’m ready to show 10-12 difficult miles who is BOSS
welll welll well… It appears I need to get my legs movin!
What events are on YOUR race bucket list?

I have done some on your list and some on yours are on mine. Especially the Disney wine n dine. Too expensive to go solo and its right at the beginning of competition season for my girl so not knowing if she competes that wkend I didn’t sign up. NYC oh yeah. And I really want to do a relay race ……
wine & dine is super pricy. not to mention a flight to orlando, a hotel room, food, etc… but I’m justifying it one day
haha
Bucket list? Wow, never thought about that for races before. For marathons, I’ll go with defintely Big Sur, Honolulu, The Big Five in South Africa, and NYC. Also, want to do Ragnar. I’m sure there are way more though! — Ericka @ The Sweet Life (sweetlifeericka.com)
ohhh big sur is on mine as well! darn can’t believe I forgot that. I guess this is an ever growing list haha
Awesome. Been compiling mine for awhile now but have yet to publish. Love it.
Mine isn’t finished. I figure this is one of those things that is going to be ever growing.
Love this list! New to my bucket list is now Boston. After spectating last week, I am in love with it. I hope to qualify some day – if not, there’s always a charity.
I still haven’t decided if I want to RUN boston. I want to BQ, but right now it might only be to say “no thanks” to boston… that may change once I actually get fast enough to qualify though haha
That is a fantatsic list. You are all over the map too, which is great. International races are soooo much fun. I’ve only done one, but my time was horrible, I was in pain and LOVED the whole expereince. Imagine if I raced well? Ok, so when do we start checking some of these off….
well my first event on this list is the Warrior Dash. Which I can cross off the list on may 20!
& the flying pig will be my first full next spring!
& It’s in the plans to run the Dublin half marathon on our honeymoon. Z even has considered training for it, but even if I end up running it alone – I’m SO doing it. So excited for an international race.
where did you run internationally?
Well the Pig is obviously on my bucket list (13 days to go!) along with that Disney wine & dine. I would also love to run the napa to sonoma half marathon (something about wine country appeals to me *winks*). And the Nike Women’s would be pretty sweet (doesn’t that one have the sexy firefighters?) And the KY Bourbon Chase. Its similar to a Ragnar or Hood to Coast, but in Bourbon country.
wine country is MY kind of place too!
haha
& that KY bourbon chase sounds kind of awesome. just googled it! I’ve always wanted to be on the last leg of a relay. (or any leg, but last or first legs would be so wild!)
I don’t have a bucket list per se, but I enjoyed reading about yours. I know I want to continue to do distance, I know I want to try the 50 in 50, but specific races aren’t always what I look at when thinking about the future. That being said I would love to run Boston and I would love to go to Disney and do the Goofy Challenge
I like your list! I am doing the Boulder Bolder this year… I did it a few times many years ago when it was much smaller ( i lived there and my sister still does ). I want to do one somewhere in Australia… I like small races with big ambiance. also would love to do a relay.. Hood to Coast or Rangar.
I always have a list like this in my head – love that you wrote it on your blog. Good idea! My big focus right now is a Ragnar relay, working on a team for Napa.
This is a great bucket list! I’m hoping to get home to do the Flying Pig half next year. We’ll have to be cheerleaders for each other during our training =)
Everytime I hear about a new awesome race, it goes on my bucket list. I ran the 2011 Wine and Dine and absolutely loved it so much that I am running it again this year!

Just found your blog and am loving it! Austin & Big D would be awesome races… Austin’s always been on my list too. Just need to get back there!
I just signed up for my first full too, Feb. 2013. Looking forward to reading about your adventures in training too!
3M and W&D are GREAT races!!
My bucket list includes NYC, the Goofy Challenge, and the Florida Keys Ragnar.
What a great list! (I came across your blog through Pavement runner BTW)! I am doing the Flying Pig half in May. It will be my first half. I’m crazy excited! I have a bucket list for races, too… We shall see if I get to do them all someday.
